Your proportions are all wrong
You don’t want your meat to be swimming in marinate, but you don’t want to use very little either.
One cup for every 225 grams (8 ounces) of meat is just right, providing your marinade is well seasoned and acidic enough.
Again, time is a factor. If you’re leaving your marinated meat overnight, add a bit more, because of the absorption. If you’re marinating the meat for half an hour, add a bit less.
