You’re not using the holy trinity of marinades
The right homemade marinade needs three key elements: acidity, flavoring agents, AKA spices, and oil.
For acidity, you can use soy sauce, any type of vinegar or citrus juice. For spices, the sky’s the limit, from chili pepper flakes to paprika and from dill to cumin.
There’s no right or wrong answer here. For oil, try to use olive oil. Grain oils are unhealthy and have no flavor.
Salt is vital too, but don’t go crazy. If you add too much salt to your food, you’re done for. You can always season with a few more pinches of salt while cooking.
