Chinese Takeout Boxes
This might not be food, but we can’t imagine Chinese food without thinking of these pretty take out boxes. As you can imagine, takeout is not a traditional Chinese service, but uniquely American. The leak-proof paper container with a wire handle was patented in 1894 by Mr. Frederick Weeks, but they became widely used after WWII.
Actually, Chinese boxes started a real takeout and delivery revolution along with delivery pizzas. Who would have thought these days we would be able to order everything literally to our doorstep? From tacos to salads, but there’s just something special in Chinese food that comes in paper boxes, would you agree?
