Field Bread
Where there’s flour, there’s bread, but out in the fields, ovens were a rare sight. That’s why cowboys’ baked’ their bread in a thick skillet over the open flame, that’s the field bread.
Part bread, part pancake, this one was at least soft and freshly-baked, so you must imagine it was quite a treat for the brave cowboys working the fields all day. In fact, field bread is facing a comeback. Would you say no to a piece of steamy skillet bread?
